An Update From Kaysie

I’ve been really hesitant to take up space during such a time of panic and uncertainty in the world around us.

I know a lot of us have been overwhelmed with the amount of information around us and it’s hard to open one more email that reminds us about the impact of COVID-19. So I’ve taken some time to think, reflect, be silent, be grateful, get on my knees, and finally circle back around to the only ground on which I’m able to safely stand. And my hope is to pass along any of that security to you, our dear supporters.

The nonprofit community (like everyone else) is swirling right now. I’ve talked to several friends at the helm of their causes who are feeling large amounts of fear over their projects (and the faces behind them), their budgets, and their staff. It’s really easy to give room to those doubts. I’ve had a few anxiety spirals myself this month. But ultimately I’m realizing that, just like in our homes, we decide what will take up room. And I’ve decided I don’t want fear, panic, or anxiety to take up any space in my house. I need to use every square inch I’ve got for faith, gratitude, vulnerability, bravery, and peace.

God is up to something if we pay attention. While the temptation might be to stay focused on the screens around us demanding our fear, God is always breathing life into something that is dead. And maybe He is wanting to bring our attention home?

How can we pray for + serve your home and household right now? We have printed off lists of our past and current supporters and are praying for you by name. Is there anything you would like us to add to those prayers?

And would you pray for our beautiful clients during this time? Our staff is heavy-hearted over the applications that continue to come in and we don’t know when we will be able to resume operations and serve these families. I know a lot of our clients have potentially lost their jobs. Some may be sick. Others are unsure of how to survive yet another trauma. Would you ask that God would make their home a safe, beautiful place during this season? That He would be their True Home and provide for their every need?

Our mantra has always been “We believe in a God of resurrection and that beauty can be resurrected in broken homes.” This remains true for us. We look forward to seeing what God is doing in our community as He brings beauty from ashes. Thank you for standing with us, believing in our mission, and believing in the power of home.

PS: This morning I was reading these poems in the quiet of my own home and came across this one. It made me think of you. "No matter how big or small, these people and these places have been part of it all." Thank you, friends.
